Using basic shapes, we apply the same principle again, this time using a sniper as the subject matter. These are minor exercises in designing dominant shaping by using heavy contrast - and, more importantly, copying the same drawing and starting a new design. After making the first one, I was satisfied with the pose but the arm and weapon placement was sloppy, so I repositioned them to add better interest.

Blue Jam Monologue - 02 Conceptual Art
Blue Jam Monologue - 02 Conceptual Art
This collection of monologues, originally conceived and written by Robert Katz, with later collaboration by Chris Morris, are taken from Morris's radio series 'Blue Jam'. Morris and Katz skilfully weave together cleverly groggy first person storytelling with thick ambient soundscapes and loops, creating a disturbing, disgusting, funny, and strangely enthralling world for our nameless sympathetic half-tramp hero to fall victim to. This narrator takes us on a journey through his nightmare world; populated by pretentious art scenesters, cynical media executives, obsequious dinner guests and unfriendly, aggressive passers by. Like all of Morris's work this will not be to everybody's taste, certainly not the faint of heart, squeamish or easily offended. To everyone else be prepared to immerse yourself head first into one mans car crash nightmare of a life.

Aliens: Colonial Marines | Concept Art survey (Gearbox-SEGA)
Before the mouth-watering Ridley Scott's 'Alien' feature film prequel announced for 2011 (look further in this video description), 2010 is no doubt the year of the Xenomorphs games licences come-back. Indeed, SEGA creates the surprise, publishing two FPS PC-consoles games called 'Aliens Vs. Predator' (seeming infinitely more attractive than the pathetic AvP 'movies') & 'Aliens: Colonial Marines', these 2 titles coming before a 3rd one: 'Aliens', the RPG... 'Aliens: Colonial Marines' developed by Gearbox Software (american studios who signed 'Borderlands', 'Brother in Arms', extensions and/or co-development for 'Half-Life' & 'Counter Strike' series, PC version of 'Halo: Combat Evolved'...) is seeming to offer a gorgeous immersive game luxurious in terms of design references/influences coming directly & pertinently from the 'Aliens' 1986 feature film signed by James Cameron & Stan Winston. Game announced for 2010 (concrete date TBA) on PC, XBox 360 and PlayStation 3. More information on Gearbox's Website: www.gearboxsoftware.com More information on SEGA's Web Site www2.sega.com VIDEO INFO | Mini-video made via Windows Movie Maker with the conceptual visuals coming from the Website called AvP2 Daily / OnlineWelten (many other visuals are available on it, have a click on the following link): avp2.onlinewelten.com Music source: 'Aliens Vs. SOL LEWITT: SENTENCES ON CONCEPTUAL ART
SOL LEWITT: SENTENCES ON CONCEPTUAL ART
1. Conceptual artists are mystics rather than rationalists. They leap to conclusions that logic cannot reach. 2. Rational judgements repeat rational judgements. 3. Irrational judgements lead to new experience. 4. Formal art is essentially rational. 5. Irrational thoughts should be followed absolutely and logically. 6. If the artist changes his mind midway through the execution of the piece he compromises the result and repeats past results. 7. The artist's will is secondary to the process he initiates from idea to completion. His wilfulness may only be ego. 8. When words such as painting and sculpture are used, they connote a whole tradition and imply a consequent acceptance of this tradition, thus placing limitations on the artist who would be reluctant to make art that goes beyond the limitations. 9. The concept and idea are different. The former implies a general direction while the latter is the component. Ideas implement the concept. 10. Ideas can be works of art; they are in a chain of development that may eventually find some form. All ideas need not be made physical. 11. Ideas do not necessarily proceed in logical order. They may set one off in unexpected directions, but an idea must necessarily be completed in the mind before the next one is formed. 12. For each work of art that becomes physical there are many variations that do not. 13. A work of art may be understood as a conductor from the artist's mind to the viewer's. But it may never reach the viewer, or it ...
